JEMUN means “Japan English Model United Nations” and it is an annual conference held at Kindai University in Osaka which simulates United Nations agendas. According to the United Nations website, “Model UN helps students to develop public speaking, writing and research skills. In addition, they often provide the first entry point into international affairs and introduce students to the wide range of peace and security, human rights, development and rule of law issues that are on the UN agenda”.

This year, the NUFS delegation made up of four students from the Department of Global Governance and Collaboration were selected for the “Positive Impact” award for the best small delegation, which recognizes the outstanding group efforts made by university delegations attending the JEMUN conference. These awards are decided by JEMUN’s Secretary-General after deliberation with meeting room advisors and chairpersons. Congratulations to Okada Mana, Goto Rinko, Sugiyama Hina, and Tadauchi Akemi for your efforts during the three day conference in Osaka!  This year’s theme was “Better Business for a Better World” and the NUFS delegates were working on solutions to the problems of forced labor and human trafficking.
